Load Bearing 2

This is part of a series of experimental extruded forms which look at the possibilities of this process to mix clay and various rock, ceramic material and metal oxides to develop interesting and evocative surfaces.

The piece is one of a series that looks in more detail at the elements of construction and the ways that these materials can become compromised and impacted.

The ceramic surface is developed to look like metal steel beams that have become bent and distorted.

The building ‘steel’ is seen as the building material from which stability, safety and longevity is derived and this piece challenges that confidence.
