Treated in the gas kiln environment to give a rich and varied texture.
Abstract Build 2
This piece is part of a series of 3 pieces which explores the built environment.
Each piece is made with a different clay body.
This piece was constructed with white stoneware paper clay. I have then added simple white slip and iron oxide on the edges of each surface.
The oxide emphasises the joins between pieces and the link to made items with architectural drawings and the link to human activity.
Abstract Build 3
This is the last of a set of three works that looks at how buildings make up city scapes.
Each piece uses a different clay body but all are reflective of current building material and textures that are prevalent in urban areas.
This piece uses a grey Barcino stoneware clay - the clay has a high grog content which offers a beautiful texture - i removed clay from the surface of the piece to emphasis the grog which gives it more of a built effect.
I low fired this piece to retain the cool grey colour.
